Sunday Mornings

Moon Swims into Cancer & into the Opposition with Pluto, Sun still in Cancer (Sunday, July 19, 2009)
The Sun is still in Cancer! Now with the Moon entering Cancer, the inner world of Cancer will become more accessible and more impactful.
With the Moon moving out of the social, outward oriented sign of Gemini, into Cancer there will be a distinct change of energy.
When the Moon is returning Sunday evening to her home sign Cancer, our mood turns more inwards. We might feel more vulnerable because we are more open and in contact with our feelings.
Cancer is the sign of home and family; the place where we feel connected by our history and blood ties and hopefully by love.
The Inner Home
Cancer represents our own individual inner place, our inner roots, and our inner emotional foundations. What do we need to feel safe and loved? How much closeness or nourishment do we need from others? What kind of an outer home and family have we created because of that?
Moon in Cancer will show us our emotional needs and desires. It might also make us vulnerable to feel the places in us where we have been wounded, abused and not nourished in our childhood. We might carry those hurts and conditionings with us maybe all our lives and once in a while it will be more accessible for conscious reflection, awareness and out of that for some degree of healing.
Don’t be surprised by your own gentleness and loving heart for yourself or somebody else in Your Life.
Moon in Cancer is one of those times when we have more access to that inner world!
Remember the journey always starts from where you are. Feeling that inner world with awareness is the first step to healing and growth of any kind.
When this gentle Cancer Moon is getting in opposition with Pluto deep emotions could be stirred up. Let us have a look at Pluto!
Pluto the Ruler of Life and Death
Pluto is the Roman god of both the underworld and of wealth. The underworld is Hades, the realm of death. There are some dark aspects to Pluto, just as we all have a dark side. However, death is both inevitable and welcome, because it leads to rebirth in a never-ending cycle: Pluto is the Phoenix rising from the ashes. Pluto calls us to understand the role of death and all endings and to use those unavoidable occurrences to renew our spirit and our life.
While Pluto destroys, it also transforms and rebuilds what it touches.
Pluto represents the deep unconscious, both individual and collective, and the needs and drives that are held there. It is in that deep realm that conflicts arise, pointing to our need for transformation. We must come to terms with those conflicts and accept our evolution to higher levels of consciousness and being. That process will always feel unsettling, even chaotic, but when the battle is won, you will feel deeply rejuvenated!
Pluto rules Scorpio and, with Mars, the 8th House (Death & Regeneration).
Cancer Moon and Pluto Opposition
I give you a personal example of how this can play out…
This morning I did my Sunday morning Sweat Your Prayers practice, where we get together in our community to dance and express the divine flow of the moment. It is a dynamic meditation practice where you allow the energy of the present moment to carry you inside and use your body to express that through motion. Of course you can do that any time for yourself at home but doing it together in a group is much more powerful.
This morning before the dance I was told by a good friend that an acquaintance of mine is in her process of dying right in this moment from cancer. I knew she was sick, but we haven’t been close so I was only at the periphery of her process.
I prayed for her, hoping she would have an easy transition. Then I took the information with me into my dance and I felt deeply touched, very vulnerable and somehow deeply connected to the mystery of life and death.
I also remembered and was transported back in time to my father dying 1 ½ years ago. I was there with him and felt deeply honored. He had obviously waited for me for the 30 hours it took me to get from Maui to Germany. It was the most precious moment of my life!
I had never been with a dying person before and it was all good! He was 87 years old and had lived a good life. With all the physical pain he was in it was a release into freedom from that old body. When his spirit Was Gone there was just that shell left, but it was so obvious that what was my father – his soul – was gone. I felt a deep joy for him and of course the loss of letting go of that outer representation I was so attached to.
Pluto Promises Transformation and a New Life
Pluto has been called the phoenix out of ashes, symbolizing the new bird rising out of the ashes of the dead. As much as we generally don’t like the dying part, the letting go into something we cannot see or even imagine; sometimes we do have a glimpse of the grace involved in that eternal dance of life and death and how it plays out in our lives.
And maybe we can take comfort of that knowledge and understanding…Life goes on and it is eternal! It shows itself to us in so many ways and forms! How can we not have a glimpse into eternity?
Astrology, the Doorway to Your Inner World
For me astrology is a tool for inquiry, a means to have a look at the bigger picture, gain a different perspective onto my life and deepen my understanding of the different facets of life.
I use it to gain clarity and insight and I believe it helps me to grow into a better, more compassionate and understanding person. It helps me to strive for a higher potential of myself as a person and gives me guidance towards setting my intentions within the universal flow of the moment.
Today I have shared more personally with you out of my own experience with the hope that it will help you in some way in your own process…I believe so more authentic we can live our life so more we are in touch with the oneness of our spirit and the sameness of our needs and desires. Whenever we can share from that deep inner place we allow that recognition of that oneness to take place…
